We are interested in taking the horseback riding tour. Is this a worthwhile endeavor for first time visitors? Are the tour guides very knowledgeable?
Also, we like to ride bikes, and we understand there are bikes for rent there, are there tours or is it just to tour on your own?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Horseback tour renting bikes
Some of the horse tours go with a licensed battlefield guide, so yes, they are knowledgeable. You%26#39;ll have to ask about it when you make the reservations. A previous reply noted there is a weight restriction, so if that%26#39;s a concern, you%26#39;ll need to ask about it also.
There are at least two bike rental places in town. I am not aware of guided tours on bikes. However, there is a new business that offers rentals of those Segway things, and they do offer a guided tour. It%26#39;s called Scoops and Scootz and is on Taneytown Road.

I don%26#39;t know if I am too late or not.
We did the horseback tour last fall and really enjoyed it. They took us through the battlefield (on a special trail) and we wore headsets that narrated for us what we were seeing. The headsets were a bit cumbersome at first but you get used to them after a bit. The tour was about 2 hours and we learned a lot.
GettysBike tours does bike tours and rentals. They came highly recommended to us and we had a great time. I did the horse tours the year before and they cover the same ground twice. On bike, you cover the vast majority of the battlefield. I%26#39;d go with GettysBike.
