Hello - I%26#39;m going to be in Pittsburgh next weekend and am looking for any recommendations for a nice coffeehouse / cafe place for breakfast downtown. I%26#39;m staying at the Marriott Courtyard on Penn Avenue. Thanks for your help!

You can probably sneak down a couple alleys and get there within 5 minutes walk.

Just across the Sixth Street Bridge, Soho has a Sunday brunch for $16.95.
If you%26#39;re up for a pre-breakfast stroll, DeLuca%26#39;s on Penn Avenue in the Strip has great breakfasts. I%26#39;d say it%26#39;s about a mile from your hotel. Pamela%26#39;s is also in the Strip.
I love Pamela%26#39;s in the strip district. Excellent pancakes, although everything is good. Has a 50%26#39;s diner type atmosphere. Expect a crowd.
Have also been to Steel City which is nothing fancy - basic greasy spoon diner but good food, very inexpensive.
A few other cafe-type places on the Strip. Saturday morning on the Strip is a great, several coffee shops little restaurants, ethnic foods, etc. Check it out if you can.
Within easy walking distance is Crazy Mocha, One Gateway Center, straight down Penn Avenue from the Courtyard. Also walking distance is Bruegger%26#39;s in Market Square, although I would take the time to get your brew at Nicholas Coffee nearby, as the coffee is much better there.
If you do head the other direction to the Strip District, and I recommend you do while you%26#39;re here, you could try La Prima on 21st, just off Penn Avenue (and around the corner from Pennsylvania Macaroni Company, another place you might visit) for coffee and a nosh and a great hometown atmosphere thrown in.
Also in the Strip is Enrico Biscotti for breakfast or lunch - worth a look, for sure.
Hey Penzgirl - I love the DeLuca%26#39;s recommendation, but not exactly what I would describe as a nice coffeehouse/cafe ! Great food, but definately diner/dive!
