Fancy dress shops

I will be visiting philadelphia from the uk in November and would like to buy a fancy dress costume for New Years while I%26#39;m there. Could anyone recommend a good shop?

Fancy dress shops

Sophie Curson, on 19th Street between Chestnut and Walnut, has beautiful clothing. I bought my wedding dress - a teal silk chiffon - there.

I misspelled - it%26#39;s ';Sophy'; not Sophie.

Sophy Curson%26#39;s is lovely, but expensive (although coming from the UK, everything may seem like a bargain in the US to you!)

You could also check out the dress department in Macy%26#39;s. Another option could also be Nicole Miller in the Shops at the Bellevue.

If you are willing to bargain shop, check out Daffy%26#39;s or Loehmanns. Loehmanns, in particular, has ';The Back Room'; and you%26#39;d be surprised at what you can find there if you are willing to shop it and look (I got a great Nicole Miller dress last year at the Drexel Hill store for $59 that retailed for $440!) It is hit-or-miss, though.

Hi. I%26#39;m from Philly and the truth is there isn%26#39;t all the much clothes shopping in the city. Most people here go out to the malls in the suburbs (the largest %26amp; best one is the King of Prussia mall), or to NYC to shop. If you will have a car, you could also go to SAKS Fifth Avenue in Bala Cynwyd, which is about a 10-minute drive from center city.

If you are looking for discount shopping, you can drive to Franklin Mills (about a half hour from center city), where you%26#39;ll find SAKS and Neiman Marcus outlet stores.

If you are looking for high end designer wear, you can also check out Boyd%26#39;s on Chesnut St. They have a very good selection and are known for their fabulous customer service.

aaaahhhh....dress shopping. I%26#39;ve recently made 4 trips to KOP and others to local boutiques and STILL can%26#39;t find the right dress. But I digress....

Will you have a car? If so, a trip to King of Prussia would be good. Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, DKNY, Betsey Johnson, BCBG (great for dresses), Nordstrom...

There is also a BCBG downtown, at 1601 Walnut. That%26#39;s always the first place I look for a dress.

Another great boutique downtown is Leehe Fai. http://www.leehefai.com/

Or Joan Schepp.

Have fun!

Bimbels ~ What type of dress are you looking for?

Something for my 20 yr HS reunion - not too dressy, not too casual...you know. ;-) I gave up for now. Will look when more fall stuff comes out. Might head into the city (I live in Newtown Square) to the shops I cited.

Have you tried Lilly Pulitzer? That was the first thing that came to mind.

Way to preppy for me. ;-) I%26#39;m more of a fashion victim I%26#39;d say. LOL
