south side or the strip

Any advice on where we (married couple in early 30%26#39;s coming to pitt for steelers monday night game) would have a better time bar hopping, not looking for niteclub. Do I understand right that bars may not be open on sunday? Sunday during the day would we have more to see and do on the strip or southside and are they far apart? thank you for any help, we are just so excited about our trip...go steelers!!!!

south side or the strip

PA has laws regulating Sunday hours for bars, mainly that a certain percentage of their business must be food related.

I would recommend the South Side over the strip for bar hopping.

The Strip is great on a Saturday morning, but most of the ';bars'; there are nightclub type places. You%26#39;ll have more options open to you on the South Side on a Sunday night.

During the day you could take a ride on the Duquesne Incline and have a great lunch on Mt. Washington, then head from Station Sqaure into the South Side to party. Take a walk around Station Square too.

Will you be coming in for the entire weekend? If so, I%26#39;d do the Strip on Saturday and the South Side on Sunday. Enjoy your trip!

south side or the strip

the strip doesn%26#39;t really have many bars. Maybe a few. I haven%26#39;t been to southside (going next month), but I know there are many bars there. Don%26#39;t know about Sunday openings, probably are but later in the day. Someone else will post with more specific info, I%26#39;m sure. Strip and south side are not close.

Oh and as for distance, they are far enough apart that I wouldn%26#39;t want to walk from one to the other, unless you really like walking.

Welcome to Pittsburgh! The South Side is definitely better for bar hopping. For before the game, there are a number of bars between PNC Park and Heinz Field.

Carson Street (South Side) is basically a long line of restaurants and bars, with a few stores thrown in. At 27th Street, there is the South Side Works, which is kind of an urban outdoor mall.

Some stores in the Strip are open Sunday, but it%26#39;s not as hopping as it is on Saturday afternoons.

You might also want to stop by Station Square; from there you can catch the Gateway Clipper boat tour or a Just Ducky Tour, and you can also catch the incline across the street. Go Steelers!
