Elephant and Castle inn Grove city

I was wondering if anyone has ever stayed at the Elephant and Castle INN in Grove City PA. Is it like a normal hotel and is it nice and clean and new? Thanks for the input!

My husband and I stayed there in May 2007. The price was right (I think around $60 per night) but that was the only good thing about the place. The price seems to be lower if you show up and ask about their lowest rate, rather than booking ahead by phone. This place is really just a bar that has a few rooms attached out back to justify their liquor license (that%26#39;s what the staff told us at least). The rooms are okay - clean, average size. They however aren%26#39;t fresh and new by any means. The air conditioner worked, however it was one of those older models that was extremely noisy. The other problem we experienced was the noise level in the hotel. We were on the main floor (there appeared to be two floors) and we heard noise all night long - the door to outside banging shut every time someone used it, the night staff person talking very loud on the phone and to a colleague in the hall, the phone ringing, etc. It was very annoying. I even opened our door at midnight and looked out at the staff person at the desk and she kept chatting away to someone even though I thought I gave her a pleasant, but obvious look of, ';okay come on now it%26#39;s midnight';. The loud talking continued for quite some time. We eventually turned the loud air conditioner on to at least have a constant noise rather than the fluctuating noise of phones ringing, staff talking, doors shutting. By about 3 am things had quieted down. In the morning my husband politely said, ';I just thought I%26#39;d let you know that it%26#39;s very loud in here at night with phones ringing and staff talking';. The lady just said, ';oh';. Then when he walked away she didn%26#39;t realize that I was around the corner and I heard her complaining to her colleague about his comment. Very unprofessional in my opinion and I would never stay there again regardless of price.

The restaurant on the other hand had excellent food and great service. Just quite smokey if you%26#39;re used to non-smoking places.

I stayed at the Elephant %26amp; Castle for three days while on a shopping trip with 6 six friends. They were very accommodating with having extra people in the room. The staff offered us plenty of discount coupons and advice. We had 2 rooms on the second level and had no problems with any kind of noise whatsoever. They were very pleasant and always said hello and asked how the shopping went! We have gone down for four years and we always reserve six months in advance for this Inn. Although it is not brand new, we found it to be very clean and smelt nice. I still intend on reserving here. As well, another nice thing was the parking. I did not have to worry about parking as you just have to walk across the parking lot and voila you are at the hotel. We call it the non-driving week-end! Hope this helps.

Have stayed here before, and have 3 rooms booked for next weekend again. All of us have always been pleased with the staff. The downstairs rooms are very large compared to others in the area. The prices can%26#39;t be beat. You can get a discount coupon at the outlet stores guest services before you check in!

I spoke too soon. We arrived at 4:00 PM to find only two of the three rooms we had reserved since March were available. The manager said they had over booked, and actually raised her voice at me and said it happens all the time! Gave us horrible rollaways to use and tried to make it okay by trying to give us two $10.00 gift certificates for the restaurant there. Can%26#39;t help to wonder if they have different management, staff was nice but was in tears from manager yelling at her over the phone too! The toilet was so lose we thought it was going to fall over. Dry wall over the shower was half finished. Wouldn%26#39;t stay there again if they paid me!
