Will be staying at SKi Side Village in October. Have tickets for ';In the Beginning'; in Strasburg for Tuesday the 23rd. Any suggestions on anything else to do??
We will have my mother and my mother-in-law, both in their late 70%26#39;s with us. So no hiking, biking, or anything too physical. Will probably drive them over to Delaware Water Gap for the view - is there anything else there?? Maybe a small cafe or coffeeshop?? These are two ';simple'; women - they would not enjoy anything TOO fancy or upscale, more down-home type!!
My niece works at the Barley Creek Brewery - so I know we have to go there for dinner one night. Will probably spend a day just hanging out with my brother and his family. But would really like for the moms to have a wonderful few days. Anything they should NOT miss??
And if anyone has been to the SkiSide Village resort I would love to hear anything about it - good or bad!

The Steamtown Nat%26#39;l Historic Site in Scranton offers train rides through Lackawanna County - I believe they are about 2-hr tours and the fall colors should be perfect at that time. If you%26#39;re interested, their website has the details - I%26#39;d make reservations soon, though - they do fill up with locals.

That sounds like a great idea - we have gone to Strasburg and the train ride there. That would be something the moms could do easily. Thanks!!
No problem - I often traveled with my mom, who was not elderly but had some physical limitations, so I know all about tailoring trips to the needs of others!
While you%26#39;re in the Delaware Water Gap area, I believe they have scenic trolly tours - you should be able to get info online or right at the visitor%26#39;s center. Also, there%26#39;s a cafe/bakery we visit whenever we%26#39;re in the area - I have absolutely no idea what the name is, but you%26#39;ll pass it traveling on the main road through the town - it sets on a corner and there will be pumpkins. mums, etc. out front - can%26#39;t miss it. I think ';Apple'; is in the name, but again, not sure. It%26#39;s nothing fancy at all - pretty much a country store/bakery-type place with some tables insode, but it%26#39;s a good place to stop for coffee %26amp; dessert - everything has been great whenever we%26#39;ve visited! I%26#39;ll try to determine the name for you, but again, you really can%26#39;t miss it.
If I can come up with anything else, I%26#39;ll let you know. Have a great trip!
The country store/cafe sounds fantastic for us also. Neither mom would enjoy anything too fancy. Both very ';no-frills'; women!!
Which works out for me because my husband tends to want to try something ';different'; and I would rather stick to something I recognize!! I have passed nearby the Delaware Water Gap when leaving my brothers house in PA to go visit NY - but I have never stopped there. It looked very beautiful - is this cafe / coffeeshot very near?? Thanks a lot - I really want the moms to enjoy themselves, and I KNOW I am worrying for nothing - they will be more than happy just to be driven around and not having to worry about about things back home.
Laura57, the place in Water Gap is called the Village Farmer %26amp; Bakery. They serve lunch, too, although we%26#39;ve only ever had the goodies. Also, if you go to watergaptrolley.com, you can print a 10% off coupon for the scenic trolley rides, if you decide to do that. Enjoy!
Trolley sounds great - thanks for suggesting that. And we will definately check out the eatery.
